BEFORE YOU INSTALL
What the extension does, and what it never does.
This page is GrowedditX's pre-install disclosure. The side panel shows the same disclosure on its first run, and again whenever these practices change, and does not offer to pair your browser until you select I understand.
Help a signed-in GrowedditX user write and reply on LinkedIn and X in their own voice, and save the people they choose from what is on their screen, without acting on their behalf.
- Side panel with today's queue, keyboard shortcuts and a daily safety meter that keeps you at a human pace.
- Composer check on LinkedIn and X: hook meter, see-more preview, style flags, save as a draft to your workspace.
- Reply assistant next to the comment box: three drafts in your voice. Insert one, edit it, and press the network's button yourself.
- Save the people in a list you open: reactions and comments on a post, followers, attendees, people search results, or the profile on screen. When you ask, it keeps reading a list you started until you press Stop or the cap.
- Profile card with your notes and past conversations, and a small label on posts from people you already track.
- Fill the composer with a post you approved in your workspace, formatted for the network, and tell the workspace when you posted it. You still press Post.
- Scan the timeline you are looking at: the posts on screen ranked as reply openings, with the reasons. Save a post to your swipe file, a person to People, or a pick to Engage, one click each.
- Record your own follower count from your profile when you press Snapshot, and see your pace against the goals you set.
- Two opt-ins, off until you turn them on in the side panel: revisit the pages you pinned on the schedule you set while Chrome is open, and read LinkedIn's own page data for the lists you open. LinkedIn and X can restrict accounts that read more than a person would.
- Never likes, follows, connects, comments, messages or posts for you. Never uses your cookies for anything but the reads you turned on.
Permissions it asks for
- storage: Keeps this browser's pairing, a queue of captures waiting to sync and the last display settings on your device.
- alarms: Retries queued captures once a minute until the app confirms them, and, when you turn scheduled reads on, checks every 15 minutes whether a page you pinned is due.
- sidePanel: Shows today's queue, the safety meter and pairing in Chrome's side panel.
- host permissions: Runs only on www.linkedin.com and x.com to show the composer check, reply assistant, capture and profile card, and talks only to your GrowedditX workspace and its API for pairing, config and syncing what you saved.
A known limitation
- WXT, the framework the extension is built with, dispatches a CustomEvent on the page document when a content script starts. A page script that already knows the extension ID (public once the store listing exists) can detect that GrowedditX is installed, and can dispatch that same event with a different message ID to stop the running content script until the next page load. The event carries no user, workspace or page data, and nothing can be posted to or read from GrowedditX through it. Documented in docs/EXTENSION_RUNBOOK.md.
GrowedditX is not affiliated with LinkedIn or X. It is an independent browser extension that reads what your own browser shows, and only more than that when you turn a reader on.
